When you have a loose perm, for example, the wale may come off in less than a month. You may have given up and said “it can’t be helped” because cold perms generally come off after a long time.
Actually, you can keep your perm longer by washing your hair one way or another.
Shampoo before perm
If you use a coating agent that prevents hair damage, the perm solution will not penetrate the hair, making it difficult to get a perm. Therefore, before applying perms, wash your hair well with a shampoo that does not contain coating agents.
It is also important to condition your hair before perms.
First shampoo after a perm
After a perm, hold off on shampooing for a couple of days.
This is because hair immediately after a perm leaves a strong smell of perm solution, which is evidence that the perm has not completely set in. If you wash your hair immediately on the same day, you will irritate the hair that has not been fixed and wash off the perm solution that has not fully penetrated into the hair.
Therefore, stay without shampooing, at least for one day.
Choose a shampoo
When washing your hair, use a shampoo designed for permanent hair.
Special shampoos use ingredients that are gentle to permed hair and do not damage it. Also, since permed hair is inevitably damaged, you should always use conditioner to improve the condition of your hair.
By stopping further damage to the hair, you can make the perm last longer.
Always dry your hair.
Even if your hair is not permed, your hair will be damaged if you sleep with it wet. Even more so, permed hair is often already damaged, so be sure to dry it before going to bed.
After washing your hair, wipe the moisture from the skin with a towel and dry your hair with a hair dryer, focusing on the scalp. Be careful not to pull your hair too hard with a comb or brush, as this will cause your hair to lose the perm.
Hydrate before blow drying
In general, cold permanent wave is created by rehydrating the hair. If the hair is dry, beautiful curls and waves will not appear.
Therefore, when styling in the morning, be sure to spray a mist of water before applying the hair dryer. If you treat your hair with care and do not pull too hard, your perm will last longer.
