It is easy to neglect the care of a wig, but it is necessary to shampoo it properly. However, if you wash your wig in the same way as you wash your own hair, you may end up damaging it. Here we introduce the correct way to shampoo a wig.
What preparations are necessary before shampooing?
Avoid putting shampoo directly on the wig; instead, make a shampoo solution. Dissolve about 2 pumps of shampoo in lukewarm water about the level of human skin, stir, and when it starts to foam, the shampoo solution is ready.
The shampoo used at this time does not have to be specifically for wigs, but amino acid-based shampoo is recommended for those who are concerned. Also, be sure to brush the wig clean before applying it to the shampoo solution to keep the hair flowing.
Push-wash from soaking and washing
Once the wig and shampoo solution are ready, slowly dip the wig into the shampoo solution. Once the shampoo has soaked into the entire wig, let it sit for about 5 minutes. After that, gently push and wash to remove any dirt or dust from the wig.
Scrubbing hard to clean the wig at this point is not recommended, as it can cause tangling and split ends. When you feel that the dirt has been removed, rinse the hair. Again, use lukewarm water or water.
Use conditioner or treatment
For a beautiful wig with bounce and shine, it is recommended to use a conditioner or treatment just as you would your own hair. Apply two pumps of conditioner or treatment directly to the rinsed wig and leave for a while before rinsing.
Either conditioner or rinse may be used if the wig is artificial hair, or if it is human hair, including conditioners used for damage care. This will eliminate the creaking sensation characteristic of a wig.
What is finishing after shampooing?
Once you have finished pouring out the conditioner, be sure to remove the water from the wig. If you have a two-tank washing machine with a dehydration function, we recommend putting it in. If you do not have one, you can still remove the water by carefully wiping it with a towel or shaking it.
To prevent the wig from losing its shape, place it on a ball, mannequin head, or other round shaped object and let it dry naturally.
Shampooing the wig will also make it more comfortable to wear. In order to have a pleasant relationship with your wig, shampoo it carefully once in a while.
