Scalp problems such as dandruff, odor, and itchiness are a concern for both men and women. If you are concerned about your hair’s lack of volume or the stickiness of your scalp, we recommend that you take a proactive approach to scalp care, but we understand that many people cannot afford the hassle and expense involved.
Here we introduce a simple and reasonably priced scalp care method using carbonated water. All you need to do is add a little extra to your regular shampoo care routine. All you need is a bottle of soda water sold at supermarkets and convenience stores for about 100 yen for a 500mL bottle. Please give it a try.
Amazing effects of carbonated water!
Carbonated water is water that contains carbon dioxide (CO2). Many people may use carbonated water exclusively for mixing alcoholic beverages, but in fact, it is suddenly attracting a lot of attention for its various beauty and health benefits. The benefits of carbonated water are summarized below.
- Increases blood circulation
When carbon dioxide is absorbed through the skin, it works to expel it from the body, causing blood vessels to dilate, promoting blood circulation and increasing the supply of oxygen and nutrients. This activates hair follicles in the scalp and produces healthy hair. In addition, when taken orally, it is said to be effective in relieving fatigue, beautifying the skin, relieving stiff shoulders, and relieving constipation. - Removing dirt
When carbonated water is applied to the scalp, the bubbles contain sebum, dirt, and dead skin cells that have accumulated on the scalp and are lifted away. The excellent advantage of carbonated water is that it cleanses the scalp without any physical stress such as hard rubbing.
Pre-wash with soda water
One of the most important scalp care tips is to “pre-wash before shampooing,” and this is where soda water plays a major role. Apply a small amount of soda water to dry hair and massage gently with the tips of your fingers. If you find it difficult to use the water in a bottle, you can transfer it to a spray bottle and spray it on your hair. Since there is no particular fragrance or stimulation, you may feel it is not enough, but massage it in and spread it all over your scalp.
There is no need to worry about adverse effects on the skin if carbonated water drips onto the face or neck. Carefully rub it into the neckline and behind the ears. The key point here is to leave at least 50 mL of soda water. Carbonated water is also used in the shampooing process that follows.
Shampoo with carbonated water
Once the pre-wash is complete, rinse off the soda water, along with any dirt that may have risen to the surface, in the shower. Next, shampoo the hair. Add 2 to 3 pushes of shampoo to the bottle of soda water that you left about 50mL of earlier. Close the lid tightly and shake it around, then shampoo with the shampoo solution containing carbonated water in the same way you normally shampoo.
Massage the scalp gently with your fingers and rinse thoroughly. Since carbonated water loses more and more carbon dioxide gas over time, it is important to use carbonated water immediately after opening the bottle for these treatments.
What do you think? After shampooing with carbonated water, you can use your usual rinse and treatment. You will notice that your scalp feels more refreshed than usual and your hair will have a fluffy, natural volume. It is also said to have the effect of tightening sagging scalp, which indirectly improves facial sagging.
It is sufficient to do this once every 3 to 5 days at most, not every day. It may be a good idea to try it as a form of scalp care that can be easily performed at home.
