More and more women as well as men are suffering from thinning hair. One of the most important preventive measures is shampooing. Incorrect shampooing can cause stress on the scalp and promote thinning hair. In this issue, we will introduce the correct shampooing method as a countermeasure for thinning hair.
2 steps before applying shampoo
Briefly brush your hair before wetting it. By untangling your hair beforehand, you can reduce unnecessary strain such as hair catching during shampooing. Next, spread water over the entire scalp. By applying hot water evenly, the shampoo will lather more easily.
At this point, massage the scalp lightly with your fingers. This alone will remove most of the dirt. If it is difficult to remove styling products, carefully massage the scalp with your fingers while washing.
Shampoo is not applied directly to the hair.
Before applying shampoo, remove any unnecessary water from your hair. If there is too much moisture, it will drip down with the shampoo when it is applied. This will result in over-washing your hair, which will increase damage. After draining off the water, next, take one or two pumps of shampoo in your hands.
Once you have it in your hands, it is important to lather it up in your palms. If you apply undiluted shampoo directly to your hair, it will be difficult for the shampoo to reach the entire scalp. Do not take out a lot of shampoo at once, but use additional shampoo as needed, lathering it up as you go.
Shampoo washes the scalp, not the hair
Once the lather is created, apply it to the ground. Since there is a lot of hair on the back of the head, the trick is to turn the hair around and apply it to the roots. Wash hair by moving the scalp in a circular motion with the belly of the finger. At this point, it is easy to wash with fingernails, but this is not a good idea because it will damage the scalp.
Wash three times in the following order: from the front hairline to the top of the head, from behind the ears to the back of the head, and from the collar to the back of the head. Partial washing prevents unwanted residue. While shampooing, it is easy to wash only your hair, but make a conscious effort to wash your scalp.
No shampoo/conditioner residue
After thoroughly washing the scalp, take time to rinse. Rinsing residue can cause irritation of the hair and scalp. It is essential to rinse thoroughly until the shampoo is no longer wet. Rinsing off the lather with your hands before rinsing will reduce the amount of residue.
Shampooing should be done at night as much as possible. This is because shampooing in the morning removes sebum, which increases UV damage to the scalp during the day.
Although it may seem like an ordinary way to shampoo, daily preventive measures are important to prevent thinning hair. It is a good idea to review the correct way to shampoo.
